Should I be pissed?
My father purchased my brother a college fund when he was a baby, so he has all 4 years taken care of at the 1987 price of $7000. He also, when unemployed and still with a mortgage on the home to pay and another payment on a Van, purchased my brother a brand new Ford Focus before he was even 16.
When I was born (1991), there were apparently no college funds for sale (as if they all we're terminated or something). Also he refused to sign me up for drivers training when applicable, waited till 15, refused to let me take my road test when applicable, took it 4 months late. Again all things that my brother did the day he could. Here's the topper, at age 17 with a car in the garage for 3 years that I could be driving, he refuses to pay insurance for. This is mind you with a home totally paid off, employed, a Van totally paid off, and a hell of a lot more cash. What really pisses me off more then the car is the college thing.
Yes it sucks and sounds like favoritism. Anyway the best thing you can do is make college on your own and that way you will be proud of your accomplishments,Having things handed out to us on a silver platter makes people want to strive less for goals.Apply for a scholarship, start earning money for a secondhand car . When you have achieved the goals you set for yourself you can go back to your dad and and be proud of what you have achieved. Maybe your dad saw the writing on the wall with your brother and did not use his talents and money wisely.
